How to get a good nights sleep

Sleep is one of the things that you literally cannot live without. It is something that I personally LOVE! That might sound really lazy, but sleep is what gives you energy in order for you to have any energy you need to have rest as well, and you need to be able to really REST not just put your head on your pillow and toss all night long! I mean deep sleep where you wake up refreshed and very happy.Your life will be much better and happier once you can sleep calmly I’m going to share with you a few ways that help you get a good nights sleep

  1. Anxiety, stress and depression can all cause insomnia. Try finding ways to forget about your problems before going to sleep at night, try setting a specific time in your day where you sit and worry about your problems, DON’T ever keep that time for before you go to sleep!
  2. Never go to bed hungry, and never go to bed on a overly full stomach either
  3. Try drinking Chamomile tea they are great herbal teas to help you sleep. Stir it with a little honey if you want
  4. Exercise , or stretch a bit before actually going to bed, do not do anything too intense but getting your body a little bit tired will definitely not allow you time to waste in bed and you’ll get straight to sleeping
  5. Don’t over work your mind, instead of watching Tv , try listing to calming music or reading a book , do something calm that won’t make you think too much
  6. Relaxation therapies such as a hot bath(I’ll help with this one in another post) will help soothe you before you sleep

*Do not drink caffeine before going to bed as that will make you hyper and not sleepy !

The beauty book: Maturing skin

How to care for maturing skin

If you do have maturing skin you probably think cleansing is the lest of your worries after all you’re past the grease! But cleansing the skin with the right products can actually help you reduce some of the signs of ageing. Once a week use a gentle exfoliating scrub or a peel off mask that will remove dead skin cells and keep skin glowing. As for moisturizing you should be aiming to replace oils and waters so choose creams that provide oil and attract moisture to the skin. When applying it don’t make the mistake of stopping when you get to your chin. the neck and chest are the first places that we age at. And finally always wear sunscreen! None of the rest is worth doing if you don’t use it. Even in the winter!

Firming facial for maturing skin

1-Cleanse the skin using a milky cleanser, leave it to skin in for a few secs then massage it in

2-Starting at your chin move around the edge of the jaw and face lightly tapping the skin 10 to 20 times

3-Apply an exfoliating mask. This will get rid of dead skin cells or try a peel off that I will give you an example of. Apply tightening cucumber pads or slices of real ones to your eyes and relax, then rinse it off by splashing your face 10-20 times

  4-Apply a vitamin serum, using upwards stroking movements

5-Finish with a thick coat of moisturizer leave it to soak for 5 mins then remove it with wool

Tips for maturing skin

  • Rich moisturizers are great for your skin but if you start to break out your moisturizer is too rich
  • Don’t stop skincare at your chin your neck gives away your age faster than anything
  • Use a special eye cream daily
  • Never drag your skin while removing make up !
  • Eat more fruits and veggies that will help fight ageing and help your skin create its own sun protection

Make your face mask

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp warm water

Melt the sugar in the warm water, apply it to the face for five mins then gently massage around your skin. Rinse well!

 

 

One world: A sad truth

There are a lot of things that sometimes get on my nerves I must admit, but one thing that has always seemed to bother me to no end , was racism. And when I say racism I don’t just mean racism towards color, but also towards religion or nationality. Any kind of racism that comes to your mind, that’s what I mean. It kills me to no end to see that our human race has turned so hateful towards each other because of something a few or even just one person may have done.  Nowadays there are so many people that hate Muslims due to what happened in 9/11 and Muslims who hate jews due to what is happening in Palestine, they judge people based on what they see or what they think they see. It is so sad that we forget that we are human before we are anything else. SOME Arabs stereotype Americans to be dumb or too free and that they have no morals at all, they are just basing their theory on something they may have seen on TV or heard about from someone else they never actually stopped and tried to get to know a few different Americans who may have even more morals than they do. Now I’m not saying that SOME American’s don’t also point fingers at the arabs, they think that we are terrorists and that our women have no rights and that all we do is kiss the feet of our men and that we are all dressed in black and we spend all our days thinking badly about others and being mean to people and having all kinds of slaves, not knowing that we have very independent and strong women all over the middle east and NO SLAVES (at least in my country), they do not even try to get to know  a few of us and to talk to one of us like we were normal human beings trying to live our lives just like they are. Also this hatred towards the jews, now anytime SOME arabs see something they don’t like they blame it on the jews and say it’s their fault our it’s their mistake, I understand that what is going on in Palestine is horrible I know a few people who have been through this tragedy but that still does not mean that ALL jews are sitting back laughing at whats going on they probably feel like how we feel when we see people making muslims look like terrorists. It’s so sad that sometimes we forget that not just because ONE person may have done something harmful that their entire nation is horrible! In our country SOME people sometimes will look down to Indians because they work for us, forgetting that they are working their butts off everyday of their lives trying to make a living for their families which they LOVE and for children they want to make proud.I have met a lot of Indians that were very very very smart and adorable people but we forget that other people are humans too. And likewise when Indians or other people will look at the Kuwaitis like they are stuck up arrogant people who abuse the rights of Indians, forgetting that we are giving them a place to live and money to help them survive, and there are many kuwaitis who treat their workers with a lot of respect and care. There are plenty bad Muslims and bad jews and bad Christians and bad people but its not their religion or their nationality that makes them who they are , it’s just what gives them choices to decide what and who they want to be. Our prophet and Jesus and Moses (pbut) all preached about loving one another no matter what they were, who are we to change their words and to decide who our religion hates and who it loves? You know if a stranger were to see another stranger suffer , more than likely they would go and try to save them without knowing where they were from or what they were, it’s in our human instinct to care for one another. We are all mothers and daughters and fathers and sisters and brothers we have sad days and happy days and hard days. We all need the same physical health to be able to live in this world, it’s so sad that instead of looking at what someone’s soul is we tend to judge them depending on what they can’t change about themselves. Even if we may not believe in what the other person believe, it is our duty to respect one another, how do we expect to get anywhere in life if we don’t stop looking past these things. There is so much more than what we choose to see. Since I’m half american and half kuwaiti , I had the prevlege of seeing two very amazing and different cultures each which had their flaws and their beauty, but what they had in common was love,respect,care and hope for a better life from everyone. Even though there may be a few bad people we meet along the way it does not mean that they are all horrible. Please stop this racism and haterd everyone is having against eachother! Remember that you are human first before anything, and that WE ARE ALL going through this life and these changes togther we all experience love and anger and sadness, we all came in this world one day and we will all leave it someday so please try to share the love with everyone, same way you don’t want to be judged or punished for a mistake you didn’t do , neither does anyone else.

Ways to reduce stress

Stress is something we all go through, and it tends to increase as we grow older. Stress is bad for the skin for your health and for your soul. Personally when I’m under stress I tend to not think well and might take out all my anger on others, which is something I end up regretting in the end. But lately I have been reducing it in different ways so I thought I’d share them with you

Ways to reduce stress:

  • Take time out from work/study and the pressures of daily life for at least once a week, try to forget about everything for at least a day and just take care of yourself
  • Share problems with a loved one
  • Face up to your problems and do something to fix them
  • Plan a holiday or an outing so that you have things to look forward to, exciting things
  • Eat regular healthy meals
  • Do exercise regularly
  • Put on some calming music and sit back with a good book
  • Watch a comedy film or series that will make you laugh
  • Treat yourself to a massage facial or manicure/pedicures
  • Learn or practice yoga/meditation/pilates that relax your mind

Small Activities to do during your day

  • Clean your drawers or cupboards. You feel better when your home is well organized
  • Clear  your closet of anything that is too small or you don’t wear anymore
  • Make phone calls to people you haven’t talked to in a while
  • Go through old magazines to find recipes to make a list of recipes you want to try
  • Arrange old photographs in an album or a file (on your computer) and go down memory lane
  • Start to learn a language with a book tape Cd or dvd. (I’m still trying to learn turkish from a book, it really does take your mind)
  • Buy a crossword puzzle or try to do brainteasers to keep your mind occupied
  • Take up a new hobby such as painting or knitting, I’m working on cooking which is a very calming thing to do and yummy
  • Start a diary/address book
  • Plant up containers and make a little garden for you at home (nature is very relaxing)
  • Make a list of things you want to do in your life or improve about yourself
  • Watch a good film or start a new series (but not a depressing one:p)

The beauty book: Sensitive skin

How to care for sensitive skin

First you want to get rid of any products that you do not need. Exposing your skin to too many different chemicals can harm you. All you really need is a cleanser, a moisturizer with spf and depending on your age an eye cream.  Second make sure you avoid products containing ingredients that will cause sensitivity like fragrances, colors and preservatives although it really depends on you, you could be sensitive to anything. Third treat your skin with care. Make sure you cleanse gently to remove makeup at the end of the day. Use very light creamy cleansers or facial wipes that will minimize your contact with the chemicals. Moisturizing is very important because the drier your skin is the more it will be sensitive.

Calming facial for sensitive skin

1-Soak four camomile teabags in hot water once the water has cooled splash your face with this 20 times

2-While your skin is still damp stroke or tap skin in a downward motion . This helps drain away the fluids

3-Apply a hydrating face mask (i’ll give you an example) Relax for five to ten mins then wash off the mask with tepid water.

Tips for sensitive skin:

  • Use products with fewer than 10 ingredients lowering the risk of you coming across something your allergic to  
  • Wear sunscreen!!
  • Change your prodcuts. The skin tends to become sensitized to things it encounters too often.
  • Always read labels to see what is in your prodcuts

Make your face mask

Blend and mix these together well! and leave it on the skin for 10 mins then rinse it off 🙂

  • 1 cup of natural yoghurt
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal!

Training your cat to do tricks

Now I know most people would say that it is impossible to train your cat to do any tricks. But that’s far beyond true! Just look at all the cats in hollywood who were trained to do stunts like sitting and coming and watching and such. I trained my cat Leo to sit,stand,shake and now I’m working on getting him to roll over. One of the funnest things to do when you have a dog is to train him, yet sadly my dad would never let me have a dog so instead I got leo. Anyways so I did have the time and patience to train leo and that’s all you really need , well that and some treats ! Cats aren’t like dogs and won’t listen to you unless you give them something in return ! This is what I did to train him.

* I used Whiska’s temptations for his treats

*Shake

First of all you need to wait till your cat is calm and gentle, trying to get her to do anything when she’s in her crazy mood won’t be of any use! Then go to her and touch her paw and say “shake” while raising her paw and shaking it very gently and softly . Give her a treat when you shake it the first time. The first few times I would have to pick up his paw myself and shake it, as he became more use to it I started to just lay my palm out infront of him with the treat in the other hand, and he would put his paw in my hand by himself. You are suppose to stop giving him treats after a while, but I feel bad when I make him do things so I like to reward him anyway :p

Sit up

This one isn’t very hard at all. All I had to do was just let him smell the treat first then just raise my hand a little bit above his head and he would stand, every time he I would put my hand above his head I would say up, just so he would get use to those sounds and understand what I meant by them. At first he would stand and stretch his hands out to grab the treat , now he’ll just stand with his paws relaxed which is one of the cutest things I’ve seen him do.

Sit:

This was also an easy trick to teach him, What I did was I would also let him smell the treat then I would point my hand to the floor and say sit, and then I would push his bottom to the floor so he would sit. And I continuously did that until he finally got the hang of it.

Again this is not very hard to do, it is actually easy , but it gives you quality time with your pet and to me that’s one of the best times spent!
